Britt’s Donuts announces second location in South Carolina

CAROLINA BEACH, NC (WWAY) — One of southeastern North Carolina’s most recognizable businesses is expanding beyond Carolina Beach for the first time.

Britt’s Donuts announced Tuesday it will open a second location in Charleston, South Carolina, later this fall.

In a social media post, the family behind the business said the decision is about continuing a family legacy rather than growing into a chain.

“This isn’t about becoming a chain or changing what Britt’s has always been,” the family wrote. “Carolina Beach will always be home, and protecting everything that makes that shop so special will always be our first priority.”

The family said they chose a historic building in Charleston after feeling it reflected the same sense of tradition and community that has defined Britt’s for generations.

“Our hope is simply to give another community the chance to make the same memories that families have been making at Britt’s for generations,” the post said.

Britt’s Donuts has become a Carolina Beach institution, known for its made-to-order glazed donuts and long lines during the beach season.

According to their video posted on Instagram, the new location will located at the corner of E. Bay and N. Market Streets.

The new location will open this fall, but an exact date has not been announced.
