Brunswick Community College hosts Manufacturing Day for local high school students

BOLIVIA, NC (WWAY) — Brunswick Community College hosted Manufacturing Day 2026 on Tuesday, giving local high school students an opportunity to learn about careers in modern manufacturing.
Students began the day at Flow Sciences, Inc. in Leland, where they toured the facility, watched demonstrations and learned about the technology and equipment used in modern manufacturing.
BCC said the visit highlighted the precision, problem-solving and technical skills involved in manufacturing, as well as career opportunities in the industry.
“Manufacturing Day is about celebrating the people and companies that build our future,” said Greg Bland, vice president of Continuing Education, Economic & Workforce Development at Brunswick Community College.
After visiting Flow Sciences, students traveled to BCC’s main campus for lunch and an introduction to the college’s education and training programs.
Students also toured BCC’s Integrated Machining Technology Lab and watched demonstrations of equipment used in the program.
“There are so many different career paths within manufacturing, and that’s something we want students to see,” said Steve Hulon, director of Customized Training at BCC.
Hulon said manufacturing companies need machinists, technicians, programmers, operators and other workers who can use increasingly advanced equipment.
BCC said its partnerships with area manufacturers help the college understand employers’ workforce needs and provide hands-on training designed to prepare students for manufacturing careers.
