BOLIVIA, NC (WWAY) — Brunswick Community College has named Tanner Bullard as the new head coach of its Lady Dolphins softball program.

Bullard, a Whiteville native, returns to southeastern North Carolina after serving three seasons as an assistant coach at Converse University. During his time there, the Valkyries set more than 60 program records, including marks for regular-season victories and conference wins, while earning the program’s first win over a nationally ranked opponent.

Before joining Converse, Bullard served as a graduate assistant coach at UNC Pembroke, where he helped develop student-athletes who earned conference player and pitcher of the week honors, all-conference recognition, all-defensive team selections and all-tournament honors.

“We’re excited to welcome Tanner to Brunswick Community College,” Athletics Director Robbie Allen said in a news release. “He brings a strong coaching background, a passion for developing student-athletes, and a vision for building a competitive program rooted in discipline, teamwork, and academic success.”

Bullard said the opportunity to return home and help grow the Brunswick Community College softball program made the position especially appealing.

“Coming back home, when the job opened, I felt good about applying,” Bullard said. “Getting back to Brunswick County and knowing the culture there, the people and the softball programs made it a great opportunity.”

Brunswick Community College sponsors baseball, men’s basketball, women’s basketball and softball and competes at the NJCAA Division I and II levels.
