BOLIVIA, NC (WWAY) — Residents heading to early voting in Brunswick County can also explore the Botanical Gardens located next to the county’s Cooperative Extension office.

The NC State Extension Master Gardener volunteers in Brunswick County are inviting visitors to stop by the gardens during the early voting period from Oct. 15 through Oct. 31.

The Botanical Gardens feature 17 garden spaces showcasing plants suited to the coastal climate, including pollinator gardens, native plants, roses, succulents and shaded areas.

Patty Petrella, president of the Brunswick County Extension Master Gardener Volunteer Association, said the gardens offer visitors an opportunity to see a variety of flowers, shrubs and trees that grow in the region. Other features include an arbor in the Celebration Garden and a bottle wall.

Master Gardener volunteers will be available most mornings to answer questions and share research-based gardening information. Visitors can also pick up a self-guided tour brochure at the garden entrance.

The gardens are free and open daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., allowing visitors to explore whether they have 15 minutes or an hour to spare.

The Botanical Gardens are located beside the Brunswick County Cooperative Extension office at 25 Referendum Drive NE in Bolivia.

Residents can find early voting dates and hours through Brunswick County’s early voting information resources.
