Brunswick County Schools announces new round of bond community conversations
BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — Brunswick County Schools will host a new round of community conversations about the district’s proposed 2026 school bond beginning Sept. 16.
The meetings are open to all Brunswick County residents, including those who do not have children enrolled in the school system.
The district plans to hold seven in-person meetings at schools throughout the county, along with two online presentations through YouTube Live. All presentations will begin at 6 p.m.
According to Brunswick County Schools, the meetings will provide an overview of the bond proposal and the projects included in it. Residents will also have an opportunity to ask questions about the proposal ahead of the Nov. 3 election.
“Our goal is to make sure people across Brunswick County have the opportunity to learn more, ask questions and understand what is included in the bond before they vote,” Superintendent Dale Cole said. “These conversations are open to everyone, and we encourage members of our community to attend and bring their questions.”

- Sept. 23: South Brunswick High School, 280 Cougar Drive, Southport
- Sept. 30: West Brunswick High School, 550 Whiteville Road NW, Shallotte
- Oct. 7: Town Creek Middle School, 6370 Lake Park Drive, Winnabow
- Oct. 13: Online Bond Presentation via YouTube Live
- Oct. 14: Leland Middle School, 927 Fayetteville Road, Leland
- Oct. 21: Shallotte Middle School, 225 Village Road, Shallotte
- Oct. 28: Southport Elementary School, 701 W. 9th St., Southport
The two online presentations are intended to provide an additional option for residents who cannot attend an in-person meeting.
Brunswick County Schools’ website says the proposed general obligation bond would total $349 million and would fund new schools and countywide upgrades.
The district says the bond referendum will appear on the Nov. 3, 2026, ballot, with early voting also available.
