Brunswick County Superintendent gets 2 year extension

BOLIVIA, NC (WWAY) — Superintendent Les Tubb’s existing contract has been extended for 2 additional years. The vote came at the Brunswick County Board of Education’s regular scheduled meeting Tuesday evening.  A spokeswoman says the decision came after the Board conducted his annual evaluation earlier this afternoon.

In a press release, Tubb was quoted with the following statement:
“The evaluation of the superintendent is an extension of the school district’s planning process,” Superintendent Tubb read following the vote.
“It is the method for clarifying the expectations of the Board and assists the superintendent toward personal and professional growth. Additionally it fosters trust and communication. Just as importantly the evaluation cites strengths and identifies areas of improvement. The Board of Education has been very, very supportive of me and my staff as we have addressed issues, concerns, finances, and test scores. The Board’s evaluation of me is in the above average category. It will lead a discussion of goals and improvements for Brunswick County Schools.”
