Brunswick Little Theatre closes summer season with ‘On Golden Pond’

SOUTHPORT, NC (WWAY) — Brunswick Little Theatre will close its 2026 summer season with a production of On Golden Pond this October.

The play, written by Ernest Thompson and directed by Ken Greenman, will run from Oct. 8 through Oct. 25 at Brunswick Little Theatre in Southport.

On Golden Pond follows Norman and Ethel Thayer, an aging couple spending the summer at their lake house in Maine. Their routine changes when their estranged daughter leaves her teenage stepchild with them for a month, leading Norman to form a close bond with the teenager.

The story explores aging, family relationships and connections between generations.

The play was later adapted into the 1981 film starring Henry Fonda and Katharine Hepburn.

Performances will be held at Brunswick Little Theatre, 8068 River Road SE in Southport.
