Brunswick County school gets special snow day

BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — Students at Union Elementary in Brunswick County received a very cool treat this morning when they came to school: Snow.

A father at the school wanted to do something special for students for Christmas, so he used a snowmaker to spread a blanket of white across the school’s courtyard.

“The teachers are going to incorporate snow lessons into their lesson plans for the day,” principal Vicki Smith said. “I said, ‘You know, I would really like for it to snow at Union,’ and he said, ‘Well, I can make that happen.'”

So Brian Higgins stayed at the school all night long to make it possible. The kids seemed to enjoy it.
