Burgaw announces Halloween street closures for Trunk-or-Treat event

BURGAW, NC (WWAY) — Drivers in downtown Burgaw should prepare for road closures Saturday, Oct. 31, as the town gets ready for its Halloween on the Square Trunk-or-Treat event.

The Town of Burgaw announced that portions of Wright Street and Fremont Street will be closed throughout the day to allow organizers and participating vehicles to prepare for the Halloween festivities.

The closures will begin at 5 a.m. Saturday and are expected to remain in place until approximately 9 p.m.

The following streets will be affected:

  • Wright Street: From Courthouse Avenue to Fremont Street.
  • Fremont Street: From Wright Street to Walker Street.

Town officials say the early closures are intended to keep the streets clear of parked vehicles and provide enough space for event preparations and participating vehicles to set up.

The roads will reopen after the event concludes and officials determine the areas are safe for traffic.

Halloween safety reminders

The town is also encouraging drivers and pedestrians to use extra caution throughout the day.

Motorists are reminded to slow down, remain alert and watch for people walking near the event.

Pedestrians are encouraged to use designated crosswalks and remain aware of their surroundings.

The town says the precautions are intended to help keep families and Halloween visitors safe during the celebration.
