BURGAW, NC (WWAY) — The Burgaw Police Department will host its first National Night Out event next month, inviting residents to gather in downtown Burgaw for an evening focused on community engagement and public safety.

The event is scheduled for Tuesday, Aug. 4, from 6 to 8 p.m. in downtown Burgaw.

National Night Out is an annual event held in communities across the country on the first Tuesday in August. The campaign is intended to strengthen relationships between law enforcement agencies and the communities they serve.

According to the police department, the event will include food trucks, live music, games and activities for children, and informational booths featuring local organizations and community resources.

Residents will also have an opportunity to meet local leaders, first responders and representatives from area organizations.

“This event is about more than just having fun—it’s about building relationships,” Police Chief James Rowell said in a news release. “We look forward to meeting our community, strengthening connections, and creating an evening where everyone feels welcome.”

The event is free and open to the public.
