Cameron Art Museum announces new concert series
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Cameron Art Museum has announced the launch of Music@CAM, a new performance series that will pair live music with the museum’s exhibitions beginning this fall.
The inaugural season features four performances between October 2026 and June 2027, highlighting gospel, choral, bluegrass and folk music.
The series opens Sunday, Oct. 11, with a performance by eastern North Carolina gospel group Faith & Harmony. According to the museum, the concert is presented in conjunction with Rooted in Memory: The Gullah Geechee Vision of Jonathan Green, an exhibition exploring themes of family, faith, labor, music and community within Gullah Geechee culture.
The remainder of the season includes:
- Rock Creek Singers — Nov. 5, 2026
- Dear MariBella and the Pigkickers — Feb. 4, 2027
- Les Fontanelles — June 13, 2027
Museum officials said each performance is intended to complement the exhibitions on display while giving audiences an opportunity to explore connections between music, visual art and regional culture.
“Music has a remarkable ability to bring people together and create a shared experience,” September Krueger, Cameron Art Museum’s curator of education and public programs, said in a news release. “With Music@CAM, visitors can encounter the ideas and stories within our exhibitions through another art form.”
