Candlelight Halloween concert to bring spooky classics to Wilmington

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — A Halloween-themed concert will bring classical music and familiar spooky tunes to a candlelit Wilmington venue this October.

Candlelight: A Haunted Evening of Halloween Classics is scheduled for Friday, Oct. 30, at 8:45 p.m. at The Elia in Wilmington.

The live music program will feature a mix of classical compositions and music associated with popular Halloween movies, television and pop culture.

Organizers say selections may include Charles Gounod’s “Funeral March of a Marionette,” Camille Saint-Saëns’ “Danse Macabre,” Modest Mussorgsky’s “Night on Bald Mountain,” Franz Schubert’s “Der Erlkönig” and Edvard Grieg’s “In the Hall of the Mountain King.”

The program is also expected to feature the theme from “Stranger Things,” selections from “The Nightmare Before Christmas” and Michael Jackson’s “Thriller.”

Organizers note that programming varies by city, and attendees should check the Wilmington event listing for the final set list.

The Candlelight concert series features musicians performing in venues illuminated by thousands of candles. Organizers say the Wilmington Halloween performance will feature locally based musicians.

Tickets for the Oct. 30 performance start at $42.80, according to event information provided by organizers.
