WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Canines for Service will celebrate a major milestone for two women veterans during a Client Placement Ceremony on May 8 at its headquarters in Wilmington.
The event will honor Air Force and Navy Veteran Jennifer and Army Veteran Michelle as they are each paired with newly placed service dogs–Santos and Legion–through the organization’s nationally recognized training program.
The ceremony highlights the mission of Canines for Service, which focuses on fostering independence, confidence, and improved quality of life for veterans through highly trained service dog partnerships.
“These two female veterans we get to serve have given so much and they deserve every bit of the support and renewed independence these service dogs will bring into their lives,” said Programs Director Lexi Delina. “Watching these partnerships come together is incredibly moving and a testament to the dedication of our entire Canines for Service team.”
The organization says the placements represent not just a match between veteran and service animal, but a life-changing step forward in ongoing support and recovery.
