Cape Fear Buddy Walk set for October in Wilmington

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Coastal Bringing Up Down Syndrome, also known as Coastal BUDS, will host its annual Cape Fear Buddy Walk on Saturday, Oct. 3.

The event will take place from 9 a.m. to noon at Legion Stadium at 2149 Carolina Beach Road in Wilmington.

The Buddy Walk is Coastal BUDS’ largest community event of the year and is designed to celebrate and advocate for people with Down syndrome.

The event will feature live entertainment, activities, vendors, food trucks and an awareness walk.

Organizers expect around 1,000 people to participate this year.

Money raised through the Buddy Walk supports Coastal BUDS programs throughout the year, including iCan Dance, iCan Swim, Down to Cook, Down to Move, social gatherings and other resources for individuals with Down syndrome and their families across the Cape Fear region.
