Cape Fear Community College receives manufacturing workforce award

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Cape Fear Community College has been recognized by the Institute for Advanced Composites Manufacturing Innovation for its partnerships with manufacturing employers and workforce development efforts.
According to the college, the recognition highlights its collaborations with GE Aerospace and GE Vernova to expand manufacturing training opportunities in southeastern North Carolina.
The partnerships support the ACE CNC Machining Bootcamp and other advanced manufacturing training programs designed to prepare participants for careers in the manufacturing industry.
The ACE CNC Machining Bootcamp, which is partially funded by the Institute for Advanced Composites Manufacturing Innovation, provides entry-level training in computer numerical control, or CNC, machining while helping employers address workforce needs.
Cape Fear Community College and GE Aerospace also work together to promote the bootcamp and the college’s annual Manufacturing Expo.
“This recognition reflects the strength of our industry partnerships and our shared commitment to preparing people for rewarding careers in advanced manufacturing,” CFCC President Jim Morton said in a news release.
Cassidy Irvin, the college’s workforce training coordinator, accepted the award on behalf of Cape Fear Community College during the institute’s conference on June 23.
