Cape Fear Enterprise Development Week brings six events to region Oct. 5-10

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Small business owners, entrepreneurs and community leaders will have several opportunities to network and learn about business resources during Cape Fear Enterprise Development Week.

The weeklong initiative runs from Oct. 5 through Oct. 10 and includes events focused on professional development, procurement, culinary entrepreneurship, networking and business exposure.

The week begins Monday, Oct. 5, with a kickoff event at WWAY bringing together entrepreneurs, business leaders and community supporters.

On Wednesday, Oct. 7, the Wilmington Minority Chamber of Commerce will hold a chef showcase highlighting local culinary talent and entrepreneurship.

Several events are planned for Thursday, Oct. 8. Procurement sessions will feature representatives from the City of Wilmington, New Hanover County and Prospera, who will provide information about contracting and procurement opportunities and how businesses can prepare to pursue them.

Also Thursday, the “Intentional Collisions” networking event will be held in partnership with the Greater Wilmington Chamber of Commerce and sponsored by Duke Energy. Organizers say the event is designed to encourage conversations and business connections.

The Wilmington Minority Chamber of Commerce Awards Dinner is scheduled for Friday, Oct. 9. The event will recognize businesses and community members for their contributions to the local business community. Precious L. Williams, known as “The PitchMaster,” will be a special guest.

Cape Fear Enterprise Development Week concludes Saturday, Oct. 10, with the WMCC Business Expo. Businesses will have an opportunity to showcase their products and services and connect with community members.

“CFED Week is about creating access,” Wilmington Minority Chamber Executive Director Atiba Johnson said. “When business owners have the right connections, information and opportunities, they are better positioned to build sustainable businesses and contribute to a stronger local economy.”

Cape Fear Enterprise Development Week is a regional initiative aimed at strengthening the small business community through education, networking, procurement opportunities, recognition and visibility.
