WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Cape Fear River Watch is inviting new and returning supporters to join its ranks this summer with the chance to win a handful of outdoor prizes tied to the organization’s mission of protecting local waterways.

The nonprofit, which advocates for the Cape Fear River Basin at the local, state and federal levels, says its work depends on the strength of its membership base. To celebrate current supporters and encourage others to sign on, the group is holding its annual summer membership raffle now through Sept. 21.

Anyone who joins or renews their CFRW membership during that window will be automatically entered for a chance to win one of three prizes:

  • A Santee 116 Sport Kayak — A lightweight, recreational kayak suited for paddlers of all skill levels and built for exploring area waterways. The kayak retails for $1,249.
  • A river cruise for four with Cape Fear Riverkeeper Kemp Burdette — Winners can choose between a trip from Downtown Wilmington aboard the organization’s monitoring boat, the Osprey, or a paddle along the Black River.
  • Free admission for two on a Third Saturday Paddle — Winners can choose between two single kayaks or a tandem from CFRW’s fleet for one of the organization’s popular monthly paddling events.

Organizers say the raffle is meant to do more than reward members — it’s also a chance for supporters to see firsthand what their membership helps protect.
