Carole King, James Taylor tribute coming to Wilmington’s Wilson Center

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The music and friendship of Carole King and James Taylor will be celebrated during a tribute concert coming to Wilmington next year.

“You’ve Still Got a Friend” is scheduled for Friday, Feb. 26, 2027, at 7:30 p.m. at Cape Fear Community College’s Wilson Center.

The concert combines performances of songs associated with King and Taylor with stories about their lives, friendship and musical collaboration.

King and Taylor became part of the same community of musicians in Los Angeles in the early 1970s. Taylor recorded King’s “You’ve Got a Friend,” while King included her own version of the song on her album “Tapestry.”

“You’ve Still Got a Friend” will feature songs including “Fire and Rain,” “Beautiful,” “Sweet Baby James” and “I Feel the Earth Move.”

The show was created by producers whose credits include “Fiddler on the Roof,” “Stereophonic” and “Menopause the Musical.”

Tickets will be available to Wilson Center members beginning Thursday, Sept. 24, at 10 a.m.

Tickets go on sale to the general public online and in person Friday, Sept. 25, at 10 a.m.

The Wilson Center encourages people purchasing tickets to buy directly through its official ticketing service to avoid potential scams.
