Carolina Beach celebrates new and improved fire station

CAROLINA BEACH, NC (WWAY) — The town of Carolina Beach celebrated their new and improved fire station today with a ribbon cutting ceremony. The station is on Dow Road.

Fire Chief Alan Griffin said the station has been a long time coming, and it something that not only firefighters, but the entire community is excited about.

Griffin said celebrating with the town today meant a lot to both him and his fellow firefighters.

“They get up in the middle of the night, they’re on calls all weekend, when a lot of people are getting to enjoy their birthdays or getting to enjoy a pretty beach day, we’re out having to deal with calls. So for them to see this, that the community supports them, this is what they needed to see. And I think this is why we do what we do, to see the support from the community,” Griffin said.

He adds that the upgrades at the new facility will allow the fire department to be more efficient while serving the community.
