WILMINGTON, NC — Carousel Child Advocacy Center will close its Pender County location on June 30, according to an email sent to community partners from the organization’s executive director.

In the message, Executive Director Carrie Theall said the decision was made after “careful consideration” and was intended to “align resources in a way that is sustainable and ensures we can continue providing the highest quality care.”

Theall wrote that children referred for services in Pender County will continue to receive care through the organization’s New Hanover and Brunswick County locations.

“We will work closely with families to make access to services as smooth as possible,” she said in the email.

The organization said its partnerships with law enforcement, the Department of Social Services and other community agencies in Pender County will continue without interruption.

“Together, we will make sure that every child who needs us receives the same high-quality, coordinated response in cases of abuse,” Theall wrote.

Carousel Child Advocacy Center did not cite additional reasons for the closure in the email.
