WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Cape Fear Community College will launch a new aviation degree program this fall aimed at preparing students for careers in the growing aviation industry.

The college announced the Associate in Applied Science in Aviation Management and Career Pilot Technology on Monday. Applications for the program are now open for the fall semester.

The program will offer two concentration options: Career Pilot Technology for students pursuing pilot training and Aviation Management Technology for those interested in the business and operations side of aviation.

College officials said the program is designed to offer flexibility, with a mix of in-person and online coursework. During the fall semester, students will attend classes on campus two days a week and complete remaining coursework online.

Jim Morton, president of Cape Fear Community College, said in a statement that the program is intended to expand career opportunities and address workforce demand in aviation.

The aviation industry has experienced continued growth in recent years, with demand increasing for both pilots and aviation management professionals, according to industry data cited by the college.

More information about the program is available through Cape Fear Community College.
