CFCC students landscape Wilmington’s newest Christian Recovery House

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — One group of Cape Fear Community College students put their green thumbs to the test for a good cause.

Students in Cape Fear’s landscaping and gardening program spent the morning trimming bushes, pulling weeds, and mowing the grass at Wilmington’s newest “Christian Recovery House” at Oleander Drive.

Students say this is a great way to apply their skills in a real-world setting, while also benefiting a worthy cause.

“It makes us feel good, you know,” student Zachary Laymon said. “Sometimes we spend a lot of time around the campus doing work, so it’s nice to get out here and actually work in a different environment, and do something good for somebody that needs it.”

Students are graded for their work, but Laymon assures us, that he and the rest of his crew will be making an ‘A’ for the day for working in this scorching summer heat.
