CFCC to host simulation and game development career discovery night

WILMINGTON, N.C. (WWAY) — Cape Fear Community College will host a Career Discovery Night later this month for current and prospective students interested in simulation and game development.
The event will be held Thursday, Aug. 20, from 4 to 5:30 p.m. on CFCC’s Downtown Campus in the L Building, Room 218, at 415 N. Second St. A virtual attendance option will also be available.
Attendees will get an inside look at CFCC’s Simulation and Game Development program through hands-on demonstrations of industry tools and techniques. Faculty will discuss career paths including game designer, programmer, level designer, asset modeler, content designer and gameplay animator.
The event will also highlight the program’s 12-week courses beginning Sept. 14. Students use Unreal Engine 5 to learn game design fundamentals, develop gameplay mechanics, create project documentation and build playable games through individual and team-based projects.
