WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Cape Fear Community College will begin offering its Adult High School program at its North Campus starting in July 2026, expanding access for adults seeking to earn a high school diploma.

The program, offered at no cost to students, is designed to help individuals complete their high school education and improve opportunities for employment or continued study. The diploma is awarded in partnership with New Hanover County and Pender County Schools and is recognized by employers, colleges, and universities nationwide.

To earn a diploma, students must complete 22 credits, including coursework in English, math, science, social studies, health and physical education, and electives.

Classes are structured in nine-week sessions, with each course totaling 68 hours of instruction. Students are required to attend at least 64 hours to successfully complete a class.

Participants can choose between in-person and online learning options. In-person classes at the North Campus will be offered in afternoon sessions from 1 to 5 p.m. and evening sessions from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m., providing flexibility for those balancing work or other responsibilities.

With the addition of North Campus, Adult High School courses are now available at all CFCC campus locations.

College officials say the expansion is part of an ongoing effort to remove barriers to education and make it easier for adults in the region to complete their high school credentials.

More information about the program is available on the college’s website.
