Chadbourn issues boil water advisory ahead of planned overnight outages

CHADBOURN, NC (WWAY) — The Town of Chadbourn has announced a boil water advisory beginning Tuesday, Oct. 27, as crews work to remove old water mains and place new water mains into service.
According to town officials, water outages are scheduled for four consecutive nights, beginning Tuesday, Oct. 27, and continuing through Friday, Oct. 30.
The outages are expected to take place each night from 8 p.m. to 4 a.m. the following morning.
During the advisory, customers are urged to boil all water used for human consumption, including drinking, making ice, brushing teeth, washing dishes and preparing food.
Town officials recommend bringing water to a vigorous boil for at least one minute to kill any potentially harmful organisms.
Residents can also use bottled water as an alternative.
Water customers are strongly encouraged to conserve water whenever possible while the work is underway.
The boil water advisory will remain in effect until further notice, even after the scheduled overnight outages have ended.
The advisory was issued Friday, Oct. 23, at 12:30 p.m. by Town Manager David Wise and Public Works Director Stephen Price.
