Charges filed in Southport

The Brunswick County Sheriff’s Department has charged the alleged Southport burglar.

Seventeen-year-old William Earl Hewett was arrested late Tuesday afternoon after deputies say he stole two cars, and attempted to break into more than one business.

Hewett is being charged with breaking and entering felony larceny.

He is being held in Brunswick County Jail on $100,000 bond.
