Chester Ward announces run for Pender County Sheriff

PENDER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — A Pender County Sheriff’s Deputy and former county commissioner announced his candidacy for sheriff Monday in an interview with the Pender – Topsail Post & Voice Newspaper.

Chester Ward will complete 20 years with the Pender Sheriff’s department in July. He has served as a county commissioner from 2010-2014.

He has been a patrol deputy, school resource officer, and a bailiff in the county courts.

There are now five men seeking the sheriff’s post. Randy Burton, Joseph Cina, Alan Cutler, Jason Spivey, and Ward have made public announcements of their intent to file for the position.
