Children’s Museum of Wilmington announces Fourth of July weekend events

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Families will have several opportunities to participate in educational and holiday-themed activities at the Children’s Museum of Wilmington during the Fourth of July weekend and the week that follows.
The museum’s annual Feature Fridays program begins the weekend’s events on Friday, July 3. Canines for Service will visit from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m., followed by Big Little Learners from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. The summer series highlights local organizations and gives visitors an opportunity to learn about services available throughout the Cape Fear region.
On Saturday, July 4, the museum will host a special “After Hours” event from 6 to 8:30 p.m., giving families time to visit before watching the city’s Fourth of July fireworks nearby. The event will also feature American-themed activities.
Following the holiday weekend, the museum will host its “Time Travelers” summer camp July 6-10 for children ages 5 to 9. The educational camp explores U.S. history through hands-on art, science and literacy activities.
According to the museum, campers will learn about American art, fashion, music, stories and inventions while creating projects inspired by different periods in U.S. history. The week concludes with activities encouraging children to imagine what the country’s next 250 years could look like through creativity and storytelling.
Families may register children for the full week or attend individual camp days. Additional information about museum programs and registration is available through the Children’s Museum of Wilmington.
