Children’s Museum of Wilmington highlights free membership program for local families
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The Children’s Museum of Wilmington is highlighting a program designed to expand access for local families as part of its annual Mission Month observance in August.
The museum said its Community Membership program provides free museum memberships to families through partnerships with child-serving nonprofit organizations, libraries and Smart Start programs in New Hanover, Brunswick and Pender counties.
According to the museum, each membership covers admission for two adults and up to six children in a household. The museum said the program serves more than 2,000 visitors each year.
Museum officials said the Community Membership program began in 2010 to help reduce financial barriers for families who want to visit the museum.
The museum is using Mission Month to raise awareness of the program and encourage community support for expanding access.
In addition to highlighting the Community Membership initiative, the museum announced several August programs and events.
The museum said three spots remain in its final summer camp session, Camp CMoW: Summer Send-Off, scheduled for Aug. 10-14. The camp includes activities focused on art, literacy and STEM learning.
The museum also announced its next Feature Friday event on Aug. 7, which will include presentations by the Brooklyn Arts Music Academy and the Wilmington Symphony Orchestra.
Museum officials also announced the return of the YachtVenture raffle fundraiser, which includes a package of dining gift cards from local restaurants.
