Christmas time travel

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Christmas is a time when people reflect on their childhoods…but what if you got the chance to go back even farther in time? Visitors of the Burgwin-Wright house got the chance to experience the history, dancing, sights and smells of a Colonial Christmas this weekend.

House manager Jackie Margoles said the time travel is a fundraiser that been going on for 11 years. She said it’s a special experience, almost like a dream, that transports kids of all ages back to a simpler time. “I think the childhood is very important. I mean, today, children have so much stress on them, that, why take away a wonderful memory like Christmas or a plum fairy or whatever their little minds want to go to.”

Warm Wassle, colonial dancers, antique medical instruments and even real bloodstains from Civil War soldiers were all part of the unique experience.
