City Council to decide on sewer repairs

WILMINGTON — Tuesday night the Wilmington City Council will make some important decisions about the city’s ailing sewer system.

The council will decide which company will make the repairs to the northeast interceptor.

Up until now council has only bid the project. Tuesday night members will decide who will fix it.

What makes this an important step is that once the repairs begin the current building moratorium will be lifted.

The repairs to the northeast interceptor will cost $2.5 million of taxpayer money. That funding is already built into the City’s budget.

Construction is slated to begin next month and be completed by January.
