Clarkton man charged with kidnapping, sex offenses in Bladen County

BLADEN COUNTY, NC — A Clarkton man is facing multiple felony and misdemeanor charges after a woman reported she was kidnapped and sexually assaulted, according to the Bladen County Sheriff’s Office.

The investigation began after the Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call from a female victim who alleged she had been kidnapped and sexually assaulted at the home of Wade Anthony Garcia, investigators said.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, detectives conducted multiple interviews during the investigation and collected clothing worn by the victim for forensic testing.

Authorities identified Wade Anthony Garcia, 51, of Clarkton, as the suspect. Investigators executed arrest warrants and a search warrant at Garcia’s residence.

Garcia has been charged with second-degree kidnapping, attempted second-degree forcible sex offense, false imprisonment, and sexual battery.

He was taken into custody and is being held at the Bladen County Detention Center without bond.

The Sheriff’s Office said additional charges are expected pending the results of evidence collected during the execution of the search warrant.
