EASTERN NORTH CAROLINA (WWAY)– As the Fourth of July holiday weekend comes to a close, residents and visitors across the Cape Fear region are reflecting on a series of festive events held throughout the past several days.

In Carolina Beach, thousands of tourists and locals gathered along the boardwalk to enjoy live music and late-night fireworks on Friday. The celebration drew large crowds as families and visitors filled the area to take part in the holiday festivities.

In Wilmington, hundreds of people attended a fireworks display Saturday night at Riverfront Park, where the show lit up the downtown waterfront and drew steady attendance from residents celebrating the holiday weekend.

Meanwhile in Pender County, Commissioner Jimmy Tate hosted the first-ever “Fourth of July Water Park Festival” at his farm on Saturday. The event featured food, inflatable water slides, and a variety of family-friendly water activities for children and attendees.
