Columbus County deputies remind families to check car seats during safety week

COLUMBUS COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — The Columbus County Sheriff’s Office is reminding parents and caregivers to check how children are secured in vehicles as Child Passenger Safety Week continues.

Child Passenger Safety Week runs from Sept. 20 through Sept. 27.

The sheriff’s office says families should make sure car seats are installed correctly and that harnesses fit snugly and are positioned properly.

Parents and caregivers are also encouraged to use a car seat or booster appropriate for their child’s age, size and developmental needs.

The sheriff’s office recommends keeping children in the back seat whenever possible and reminds drivers to never leave a child unattended in or around a vehicle.
