Columbus County man arrested on drug charges after traffic stop

CHADBOURN, NC (WWAY) — A Whiteville man was arrested after Columbus County Sheriff’s Office deputies discovered outstanding warrants during a traffic stop, according to the sheriff’s office.
On Aug. 12, Columbus County Sheriff’s Office Vice/Narcotics detectives were conducting surveillance near Peacock Road and Sunny South Road in Chadbourn when they encountered Roger Dale Reaves, 59, of Whiteville, officials said.
During the traffic stop, detectives discovered Reaves had outstanding warrants and took him into custody.
Reaves was transported to the Columbus County Law Enforcement Center, where he was processed and booked into the detention center.
According to the sheriff’s office, Reaves was served with the following charges:
- Felony maintaining a place to keep and maintain a controlled substance
- Simple possession of a Schedule III controlled substance
- Possession of drug paraphernalia
Reaves was given a $3,500 secured bond.
The sheriff’s office said the operation is part of its continued efforts to combat illegal drug activity and prevent crime in Columbus County.
