Community comes together to “Hope for Recovery”

SUPPLY, NC (WWAY) — Palms Health and Wellness put on the first Hope for Recovery event in Supply Saturday.

It was an opportunity for the community to come together and offer support and resources to those suffering or have lost loved ones from substance abuse.

Speakers from local law enforcement, churches, and those now in recovery shared stories about the fight against substance abuse.

One of the key messages was just how important support is when on the road to recovery.

“If they do not have support of their family, and not only their family, but from the clinicians, it is almost impossible to recover. They have to have a strong support system both from family and the community,” said Kimberly Blankenship, the chief operating officer of Palms Health and Wellness.

To end the festivities, luminaries were released to honor all the loved ones who have lost their lives to substance abuse.
