Corvette crashes into side of Surf City bar; causes $40K worth of damage
SURF CITY, NC (WWAY) — A man is charged with DWI after driving his corvette into the side of a bar in Surf City over the weekend, police say.
Police Chief Ron Shanahan says crews responded to the crash around 11:40 p.m. on Sunday at the High Waters Sports Bar and Grill on North New River Drive.
He says a corvette hit the side of the building, causing an estimated $40,000 worth of damage.
Timothy Almond, 54, of Gastonia, was taken to the New Hanover Regional Medical Center for injuries. No word on the extent of them.
He is charged with driving while impaired and reckless driving.
While a part of the building was damaged, the bar is still fully open for business.
