Couple charged for in-flight friskiness goes on trial today

WILMINGTON (AP) — A California couple facing federal charges for allegedly engaging in sexual activity while on an airplane will go to trial today in Wilmington.

Carl Warren Persing and Dawn Elizabeth Sewell are charged with interfering with a flight attendant for their actions on the September flight. Prosecutors say the couple made other passengers uncomfortable.

They were arrested September 15th when they arrived at Raleigh-Durham International Airport on a Southwest Airlines flight from Los Angeles.

Persing's lawyer has said he was sick and drowsy and laid his head on Sewell's lap to rest.

The couple live together in Lakewood, California.
