Court documents reveal items seized in Whiteville business owner’s murder investigation

WHITEVILLE, NC (WWAY) — Nearly five months after the murder of Whiteville business owner Cynthia Hansen,  court documents are revealing more about what investigators seized while searching her business.

According to a search warrant, investigators collected several items from Stronger Body Fitness, including black duct tape, a claw hammer, a fingerless workout glove, a kettlebell and an iPhone with a cheetah-print case.

Investigators also searched a 2018 Audi associated with Hansen’s business.

The warrant does not indicate who owned the seized items or whether investigators believe any of them were used in the assault.

Whiteville Police Chief Paul Rockenbach has previously said Hansen was attacked with a “weapon of opportunity” found inside the gym. Police have not publicly identified that weapon.

The investigation remains ongoing. A $27,000 reward is still being offered for information leading to an arrest and conviction in Hansen’s death.
