Motorcyclist dies in NC-87 crash while evading Columbus County deputies

BLADEN COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — A motorcyclist was killed Monday in Bladen County while actively evading deputies with the Columbus County Sheriff’s Office, according to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol.
Investigators have not said why the motorcyclist was attempting to flee law enforcement.
Troopers say the motorcyclist rear-ended a Toyota. The driver of the Toyota was taken to Novant New Hanover Regional Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.
The motorcyclist’s identity has not been released.
The crash closed all lanes of NC-87 in both directions near Kennedy Store Road for about an hour.
The investigation remains ongoing.
