Cucalorus kicks off its 20th year
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — It is that time of year. The Cucalorus Film Festival is here, and its kickoff party happened Wednesday night at the Bellamy Mansion in Downtown Wilmington.
The party kicks of the 20th year of the festival. The first full day of films begins Thursday.
People came out to celebrate the start of the festival that runs all weekend. More than 200 films will be screened through Sunday with the first films beginning at 9:30 a.m. Thursday.
Hundreds of artists and thousands of people from all over the globe are expected to attend. The festival started out as a small local event, but has really grown into something much larger.
“The film festival industry has gained more momentum, and we are one of the major entities on the spectrum all across the United States,” said Craig Stinson, a representative for the festival. “So we are very pleased, particularly for a town the size of Wilmington.”
You can still buy individual tickets for movies or festival passes to experience it all. The festival will be showing films at several locations around town including down on the Wilmington riverfront.
Tickets and the festival schedule are available at www.cucalorus.org.
