CUE Center to celebrate 32 years with family day
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The Community United Effort (CUE) Center for Missing Persons will celebrate 32 years of service with a family fun day Saturday, Sept. 19, in Wilmington.
The event will run from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and is designed to raise awareness of missing people and unsolved homicide cases while raising funds to support the nonprofit’s work.
“Each year, many people are found, but as quickly as one case is closed, another is opened. Awareness plays a key role in solving unsolved cases,” CUE founder Monica Caison said.
The event will feature children’s and teen inflatable rides, a kids’ train ride, life-size characters, craft vendors, a pig-pickin’ and chicken meal, car and motorcycle displays, community information tables, raffles and music.
Local organizations, law enforcement agencies and families of missing people will also be represented at information tables during the event.
CUE was founded in Wilmington on Sept. 22, 1994. According to the organization, it provides professionally trained search personnel and victim support services at no cost.
The nonprofit’s efforts include searches for missing people, awareness campaigns such as its Safe and Found Program, community events for victims’ families, and a national conference and K-9 training seminar.
CUE says it has assisted more than 13,000 families nationwide.
The organization is staffed by volunteers and funded through fundraising events, grants, corporate giving programs and public donations. CUE is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.
