“Dancing with the Seahawks” returns for third year to support UNCW women’s basketball program

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The third annual “Dancing with the Seahawks” fundraiser is set to return weekend, bringing together local celebrities, professional dance partners, and community supporters in an effort to raise funds for the University of North Carolina Wilmington women’s basketball program.

The event benefits the UNCW Seahawks women’s basketball team and helps support the program’s broader needs, including recruiting, travel, equipment, and the overall student-athlete experience.

Coach Nicole Woods said the program’s goal this year is to raise $125,000 to directly support the student-athlete experience and strengthen the team’s competitive resources.

This year’s celebrity dancers include Steve Griffin, Reyna Crooms, Tomika Jackson, and Stephanie Gray Hackney. Each participant will be paired with a professional dance partner and judged across two rounds of performances. Top performers will be recognized during an award ceremony at the conclusion of the event.

The event is scheduled for Saturday, April 25 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the UNCW Warwick Center, with a social hour beginning at 5 p.m.

Tickets are no longer available online but can be purchased at the door. Organizers also encourage donations to support the Fastbreak Club, which directly benefits the women’s basketball program.
