Davidson County coach faces charges

DENTON, NC (AP) — The head football coach at a Davidson County high school has been charged with taking indecent liberties with a child.

Multiple media outlets reported that 44-year-old Joseph Ray Cullen Jr., of Mooresville was arrested last week.

The sheriff’s office said investigators were given a report Oct. 30 about an allegation of inappropriate conduct by a teacher with a 15-year-old student. The report said the incident had occurred Oct. 29.

Cullen was coach and a teacher at South Davidson High School in Denton.

It was not clear if he has an attorney.
