Diaper Bank coming to Pender County on Saturday

PENDER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — A nonprofit group will be making a special delivery of diapers to Pender County this weekend, but they need more people to sign up to receive the items.

The Diaper Bank of North Carolina, a grassroots effort created in Durham six years ago, will be making be bringing its mobile diaper bank to Smart Start of Pender County office this Saturday.

There is no eligibility requirement, but registration is required to ensure the correct diaper size is available.

The diaper bank, named Truckload of Hope, can fit supplies for up to 500 families, yet only 26 slots have been filled.

Registration will close Thursday at noon.

“We know there is a huge need for diapers in the community,” said Michelle Old, founder and executive director of the North Carolina Diaper Bank. “We want to help families in Pender County get the support they need.”

The mobile diaper pantry will provide diapers, diaper wipes, formula, and other hygiene items.
