Digital Forensics Testimony continues in Double-Murder Trial of Omonte Bell and Dyrell Green

WILMINGTON, N.C. — Testimony from a digital forensics analyst continued Monday in the double-murder trial of Omonte Bell and Dyrell Green, who are charged in connection with the 2021 killings of Briyanna Williams and Koredreese Tyson.

Prosecutors allege Williams and Tyson were killed inside the home of George Taylor III, the former chief operating officer of Tru Colors Brewing.

During Monday’s proceedings, defense attorneys questioned the reliability of location data generated from cell phones seized during the investigation. They challenged the accuracy of the information presented by the state’s digital forensics analyst and raised questions about how that data should be interpreted.

Earlier in the day, the court dismissed a juror after the individual became ill. At the request of prosecutors, the judge replaced the juror with one of the trial’s alternate jurors, allowing proceedings to continue.

The trial is scheduled to resume Tuesday as testimony continues.
