Douglass Academy taken off state watch list

WILMINGTON, NC (StarNewsOnline.com) — State officials have removed Douglass Academy in Wilmington's Northside from a state watch list due to increased enrollment at the charter school.

The N.C. Office of Charter Schools placed the school, which is in the Peabody Center on North Sixth Street, on "governance cautionary status" in May due to its failure to have at least 65 students enrolled as required by state law.

The academy had only 36 students for the 2013-14 school year.
