Downtown Wilmington traffic to be impacted Saturday by YMCA Tri-Span 5K/10K

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Drivers traveling through downtown Wilmington on Saturday morning should plan for temporary road closures and lane restrictions as nearly 1,000 runners take part in the 44th Annual YMCA Tri-Span 5K/10K.
The race will be held Saturday, July 11, from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m., beginning and ending at Riverfront Park. To ensure the safety of participants, several downtown streets and major roadways will be affected throughout the event.
The following traffic impacts are scheduled:
- Nutt Street (southbound) between Harnett and Hanover streets will be closed from 7 a.m. to 7:15 a.m.
- Front Street (southbound) between Nun and Church streets will be closed.
- The westbound on-ramp to U.S. 17/74/76 from South Front Street will be closed.
- The right lane of eastbound U.S. 17/74/76 across the Cape Fear Memorial Bridge will be closed.
- The right lane of northbound U.S. 421 approaching N.C. 133/Isabel Holmes Bridge will be closed.
- The right lane of westbound N.C. 133/Isabel Holmes Bridge will also be closed.
Motorists are encouraged to plan ahead, consider alternate routes, and allow additional travel time if traveling through the downtown area during the event.
City officials thank drivers for their patience as the temporary traffic changes help provide a safe environment for runners participating in one of Wilmington’s longest-running community races.
