Driver charged in hit-and-run streamed on Facebook has first court appearance

NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — The woman accused of intentionally running over another woman made her first appearance in court this afternoon.

Shadasia Ellison, 19, is charged with attempted first-degree murder, assault with a deadly weapon, hit and run and child abuse, among other charges.

The hit-and-run happened on Willard Street Monday. Police said a Facebook Live video shows Ellison hitting a woman with her car.

The victim, Tameka Cooper, has an injured leg.

Ellison’s bond remains at  $1,005,000. She was assigned a court appointed attorney for now, but her family met with another attorney this afternoon.
