Duke Energy to host free back-to-school movie night in Southport
SOUTHPORT, NC (WWAY) — Families are invited to celebrate the end of summer with a free movie night at Duke Energy’s Brunswick Energy & Education Center on Friday, Aug. 21.
The event will feature a free screening of the family film IF beginning at 6 p.m. at the Brunswick Energy & Education Center, located at 8520 River Road SE in Southport. The movie night marks the conclusion of the center’s inaugural Discovery Days season.
Before the movie begins, guests can explore the center’s interactive exhibits focused on energy, the environment and the Brunswick Nuclear Plant during self-guided tours.
Concessions will also be available, provided by the Brunswick Nuclear Plant chapter of the North American Young Generation in Nuclear.
The 2024 film IF follows a young girl who discovers imaginary friends left behind as children grow up. Starring Ryan Reynolds, John Krasinski and Cailey Fleming, the PG-rated movie runs 1 hour and 44 minutes and centers on themes of friendship, imagination and belonging as students prepare to return to school.
The event is free and open to the public.
